3) You miss your turn in Christchurch, you take the next one and you’re still going in the right direction to get to where you’re going
You miss your turn in Auckland, you take the next one and end up 20 miles away from where you were wanting to go

2) In Christchurch, it’s possible to go and see 4 friends in the 4 corners of Christchurch with about 30 – 40 mins travelling time total
In Auckland, if you want to go and see a friend on the other side of town, you’re basically driving the same distance as Christchurch to Ashburton

1) When you’re hungry in Christchurch and you feel like a midnight snack, you jump in your car and go to the local BP/24 hrService Station. You walk around for a while wondering what you’re in the mood for until finally deciding that your original thought of a pie and a coke were in fact correct.
When you’re hungry in Auckland and you feel like a midnight snack, you jump in your car and go to the local BP/24 hrService Station. The service station man doesn’t let you in so you have to stand at the window by the till and tell him what you want which means you have to know what you want before you even go and if your pie filling isn’t there you have to sit there and wait for the stupid counter person to tell you what pies are available only to find that you’re not in the mood for any of them and you had built yourself up for the original wanted pie filling and you go home unsatisfied with the only good side being the fact that you’ve saved $7 by not buying anything… only to work out that due to petrol prices you’ve actually spent that $7 on the petrol to the closest 24hr gas station. Part of you wants to think you’ve broken even. You haven’t.
